Sally + Josh // Engaged

I absolutely love that my career allows me the opportunity to photograph people in my life whom I love and admire. I met Sally when I was a freshman at the College of Charleston and I was quickly drawn to her bubbly and colorful personality. Fast forward some years later and now we are both pursuing careers as artists in our favorite city in the world.

I have had the privilege of photographing several sessions for Sally from her artist's profile and now to her engagement session with the love of her life, Josh! Sally is a very talented painter and a sucker for vibrant colors so I knew when it came to her engagement session that I wanted to find colors and textures that I felt mimicked her personality. And for Josh, a Charleston native, I knew the water was very important. We explored downtown for the first half of the session and then ventured to Pitt Street Bridge for the sunset. Combining both of their passions made for such a unique session and I am so excited to finally share some of my favorites!

Maddie + Justin // Romantic Garden Wedding

Maddie + Justin's wedding day was nothing short of a fairytale. Every detail felt like an extension of them, from the readings from their favorite novels during their ceremony to their bubble exit at the end of the night. It is obvious by the way these two interact that they were indeed made for each other. Maybe it's because they met when they were 17, but the level of comfort they have when they are around each other is truly inspiring.

The two shared their First Look at the Cator Woolford Gardens in front of the estate's Italian staircase, making it the perfect backdrop for the intimate moment between the sweet couple. Maddie + Justin then said their I Do's under a romantic garden archway and later danced the night away with their family and friends. Their warm energy is contagious so it is no wonder that they had so many fun and loving people surrounding them to enjoy their beautiful day with. From meeting Maddie at our beloved summer camp more than a decade ago, to photographing her special day last month, this wedding is one that I will remember for a long time to come. Here are some of my favorites from Maddie + Justin's romantic garden wedding...

Cameron + Trey // Coastal Charleston Wedding

Last year, a close friend of mine called to ask if I would be interested in documenting a proposal for a couple I had never met. Without ever documenting a proposal before, I accepted the exciting challenge and here I am today documenting the same sweet couple's wedding day. Cameron + Trey hold a very special place in my heart and I am forever grateful to them for entrusting me to document some of the biggest moments in their lives.

Cameron + Trey shared their First Look at Cameron’s mother’s home on Sullivan’s Island where Trey proposed a year prior. Afterwards, the two exchanged vows overlooking the Cooper River surrounded by their closest friends and family. Although the weather challenged us throughout the day, there was no way Cameron, Trey, and their friends would let anything rain on their wedding parade. The sun finally came out just in time for their ceremony and with it, brought us a beautiful sunset to close out the day. Their love has and will continue to conquer every challenge life throws at them because at the end of the day, “all you need is love.”

Leslie + Robert // Colorful Downtown Charleston Engagement Session

Leslie + Robert could quite possibly be the most photogenic people I have ever photographed. From the moment I started shooting, I knew I was going to love their engagement session. We had SO much fun exploring together and their bright personalities complimented the colorful streets of Charleston perfectly. I can NOT wait to see these two again in June for their Windmill Harbour wedding in Hilton Head. Here are some of my favorites from Leslie + Robert's downtown engagement session...

Mackenzie + Cory // Classic Charleston Wedding

Mackenzie + Cory are the type of people you just can't help but smile around. From the moment I left their engagement session last September, I remember thinking how excited I was knowing that their wedding day would be just as natural and easy. The two radiate this fun, young energy that is contagious and their love for each other is evident in the way they interact.

After Mackenzie + Cory's sweet first look, the two tied the knot surrounded by their closest friends and family. Upon sealing their marriage with a kiss, the newlyweds walked through an honorary arch of sabers to salute their marriage. Mackenzie + Cory's waterfront wedding was the perfect way to kick off my 2017 wedding season and I am so honored they chose me to document their beautiful day! Here are some of my favorite images from Mackenzie + Cory's classic Charleston wedding at the Creek Club…

Catherine + Mills // Engaged

It's such an exciting time in my life being able to support my best friends by documenting some of the happiest times in their life. And force them to nuzzle in front of my camera :). Catherine + Mills are one of those couples I knew early on would end up spending the rest of their lives together. They compliment each other perfectly and I had such a great time watching the two conoodle under the beautiful oaks of Windmill Harbour. Besides being two of the most down to earth people I have ever met, they are both SO photogenic and laughed the entire session through. Scroll on down to see some of my favorites from their happy southern engagement session...

Kate + Josh // Engaged

Before jet-setting off to Africa for a couple months, I met up with Kate + Josh to photograph their downtown Charleston engagement session. Although it was December, the day felt more like spring, making it the PERFECT day to explore the streets of Charleston. Kate + Josh were complete naturals in front of the camera, and I had such a wonderful time getting lost with them. I can NOT wait to see them again to photograph their wedding at the Pepper Plantation in June! Here are some of my favorites from their engagement session...

Kicking off the 2017 Wedding Season

Over the past several years, I have had the privilege of working with and learning from some of the best wedding photographers in the business. Working as a "second shooter" on a wedding day has taught me to be professional, selfless, creative, and most importantly, a team player. My job is to support the lead with alternative angles, look for the candid moments, and wrangle rowdy groomsmen if need be. Photographing someone's wedding day is a big deal. It is a huge responsibility and having the opportunity to work beside such talented and professional photographers has shaped me into the confident photographer I am today. With 7 weddings in the books for Sloan Photography and countless weddings booked under the incredibly talented Dana Cubbage Weddings, I know this year is going to be one of the best years yet.

Enjoy Ashley + Channing's bright and beautiful springtime wedding I photographed as a second shooter last year under Dana Cubbage Weddings. Cheers to the 2017 wedding season!

Kelsey + Greg // Engaged

This photoshoot was very near and dear to my heart. The bride-to-be, Kelsey, and I have known each other since we were dancing in tiny leotards, gracing the world with our so called ballet moves at the tender age of three. We have been through every step of life together: the good, the bad, and the middle school years. When she asked if I would take her engagement photos for her and her fiancé Greg, I was over the moon. And then to add the cutest 4-month-old in the world to the photos was beyond perfect. What a beautiful family they have. Kelsey... Greg... Baby Patrick... you're stuck with me as your family photographer for life and I couldn't be more overjoyed :)
